When is the MRF Conference 2023 taking place?

The MRF Conference 2023 will take place on Tuesday 7th November 2023 and Wednesday 8th November 2023.


Will MRF Conference 2023 be a virtual, in-person or hybrid event?

The MRF Conference 2023 will be a hybrid event, where it will be accessible both virtually and in-person. Selecting the virtual ticket option will provide virtual access to conference content on-demand, approximately one week after conference end.

In person attendance offers exciting opportunities to network with colleagues as well as pose questions to our expert speakers. A drinks reception has also been arranged for the evening of day 1 in the British Museum.


Will my in-person ticket for the MRF Conference 2023 allow me to have access to the virtual event too?

Yes. In-person ticket holders will also be provided with a link for virtual access to catch up on any content that they may wish to revisit.


Where is the event taking place?

The MRF Conference 2023 will take place at The British Museum Great Russell St, Bloomsbury, London WC1B 3DG.


What are the event timings?

Onsite registration will open at 08:00 on Tuesday 7th November, please collect your delegate badge from the registration desk before joining the sessions.

Sessions will begin at 09.00 on day one and from 08.20 on day two (with registration again being open from 8am for delegates only attending day two of the conference).

Sessions will conclude at 17:00 on both days.

A drinks reception will be held after the conclusion of day one until 18:00.

Arriving at the British Museum

Delegates are expected to make their own travel arrangements to the British Museum. To gain entry to the British Museum, you must show security proof of your registration for the MRF Conference 2023, so please ensure you have a digital, or printed copy of this available. If you arrive before 10am please enter the building through the main gates, where you will need to let security know that you are attending the Meningitis Research Foundation Conference. If you arrive after 10am, you will need to access the building via the main gates using the fast-track security check lane on the left of the entrance. If you have any problems entering, please ask security to radio the event managers in the Clore suite downstairs.

By bicycle:

There are bike racks inside the Museum gates on Great Russell Street.

Is there parking at The British Museum?

There is no parking at The British Museum and there is little on-street parking available. The nearest car park to the Museum is located at Bloomsbury Square, WC1A 2RJ.

The Museum is within the Congestion Charge zone.

Is The British Museum Easily Accessible?

The theatre is fully accessible and there are wheelchair spaces available at the back of the theatre and at the front for speakers. There is an induction loop in operation. There are accessible toilets next to the theatre.

Upon registering, delegates are asked to provide information on any accessibility needs. Please do so to ensure all needs can be reasonably met.


Will refreshments and lunch be provided?

Yes. The in-person conference fees include refreshments, lunch, afternoon tea on both days and a wine reception on the evening of day one.


Is the MRF Conference 2023 free to attend?

No. There is an attendance fee to attend the MRF Conference 2023 when you pre-register to attend. Discounts are offered to early career researchers as well as those from LMIC settings.

The MRF Conference 2023 is a key event for world leading authorities in infectious disease, paediatrics, vaccinology, public health and tropical medicine. We welcome delegates from all over the world who work in the field of meningitis and septicaemia, whether as scientists or healthcare professionals. The conference will also offer excellent opportunities to network and share opinions with experts on the latest advances and discuss today’s challenges for meningitis and septicaemia.

No, your ticket will provide you access to all the content on your chosen day(s).


Will there be any social networking events at the MRF Conference 2023?

A drinks reception is scheduled for all delegates on the evening of Day 1. Alcohol free options will also be available.


Can I register onsite?

No, you will need to preregister. Please use the link above to secure your place at our event.


Is there a cloakroom?

There are 2 staffed cloakrooms available downstairs for you to use free of charge. Please note, the Museum has a strict policy on luggage: regulations do not allow large luggage (more than 40x40x50cm) or wheeled cases into the Museum. If you cannot avoid bringing a large suitcase, please leave your luggage at your hotel if possible, use the left luggage facility in the train station you are departing from if you have to bring luggage on the second day, or use alternative offsite storage.


Will there be sponsors at the MRF Conference 2023?

Yes - Our sponsors will have stands in the West and East Foyers, together with the MRF and CoMO stands. You can visit during registration, coffee breaks and lunch on both days and during the Wine Reception on day one.


How can I submit a poster abstract for consideration for the MRF Conference 2023?

The poster submission deadline was 8th September 2023 and is now closed for submissions.

What COVID guidelines will be in place?

Although masks are not compulsory, some attendees may wear a mask whenever and wherever they wish to do so if they feel that it enhances their levels of comfort. Hand sanitising stations will be available throughout the event.
